New Tracks From The CD - Pre-Release on Myspace!!

Dear Friends,

it's with great pleasure that we'd like to announce the pre-release of our Cd "Infância" (Childhood) on Myspace, where we published 4 new tracks from the album that is almost done - mixed and mastered - some burocratic issues needing to be resolved before we send the master to the fabric.

We invite you to visit our Myspace profile to check not only the new tracks, but other news about the group we'll be posting there soon.

It's a good time to announce that all of our Demo material that has been published around the Internet will be removed very soon, so if you enjoy those songs, the time to download them is right now! We suggest out Trama Virtual profile - www.tramavirtual.com.br/acuri - so you, besides downloading the tracks, make a free contribution to the group.

We'd like also to invite all our friends who have Myspace profiles to add us and, if possible, send your thoughts about the new stuff. This feedback from you is really, really important for us.

Cheers from rio and Thank You All,

ACURI

Here we have a small sample (in fact the only recording that ended up with acceptable quality) from our 08/09/2008 gig at Espaço Rio Carioca. It's a tune composed by our pianist Pedro Carneiro on the concert's day. We invited our friend and partner Ana Carol d'Ávila (Itiberê Orquestra Família flutist) to play the bass flute along with Carneiro, and the result is here.

Before talking about the tracks featured in this post, it's necessary to tell you about great news... Acuri has became a septet, after our great friend Vitor Medeiros joined the group. Vitor was a part of Acuri during it's early days and now is back playing Flute, Baritone and Tenor Saxophones! Please welcome our new member!!!

We have here 2 songs recorded at a concert we did on March 14, 2007 at Espaço Constituição, Rio de Janeiro. The audio quality is not perfect, but we thought it was a good idea to post them here.

Workshop Acuri & Itiberê Orquestra Família - March 2006

Dear friends,
here we have the recording of an unforgettable day for Acuri. On March 9th 2006, we were invited by our master Itiberê Zwarg (leader of Orquestra Família and bassist in Hermeto Pascoal's group for 30 years) to participate in "Geringonça", an event that always features a less known group along with some renowed artist. For our surprise, honour and happiness, Itiberê invited the group to be on this event, joining him and Orquestra Família!

As it always happens in "Geringonça", before the concerts at the main stage, there would be an open chat between the musicians and the audience. Itiberê proposed that, instead of talking, maybe he could carry out a workshop, putting together the two groups. He would compose and arrange a piece on the spot (as he usually does at his workshops and with Orquestra), that would be finished at the workshop and played by the groups at the main stage. For us in Acuri, it was already an honour to be a part of this, imagine to share the stage with Orquestra Família... That's the reason why this event became an unforgettable day!!

The audio quality is not the best (it was taken from a video we'll soon post here), but it shows a clear picture of what happened at this meeting. We hope you like it!!

The tune and the arrangement were created by Itiberê and passed on to the musicians during the workshop, using only a small melodica to create and teach all voices, harmonies and melodies in the composition. Check out the results on this recording...

Workshop Itiberê Orquestra Família & Acuri (the tune has no name)

For this and much more, thanks Itiberê!!
